BASIC DESCRIPTION
An allergy/immunology nurse focuses on the care of patients with chronic allergic conditions. These conditions include asthma, allergic rhinitis, urticaria, and atopic dermatitis. Duties include providing direct patient care and health education and, in most cases, administrative responsibilities such as those of an Allergy Office manager.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Registered nurse (RN) preparation and Basic Life Support certification are required. An allergy RN can obtain certification in Asthma Education by the National Asthma Educator Certification Board.
