Georgetown University School of Nursing, a distinguished institution with over 120 years of history in professional, advanced practice, and doctoral nursing education, has launched its groundbreaking Nurse Executives in Residence program. This initiative is a hallmark of the newly enhanced Executive Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Health Systems Leadership and Policy program aimed at fostering transformative leadership in nursing and healthcare.
“We are proud to welcome the addition of national thought leaders in nursing executive leadership and governance as Georgetown Nurse Executives in Residence,” stated Dean Roberta Waite, EdD, RN, PMHCNS, ANEF, FADLN, FAAN. “Our unique program facilitates exclusive access to some of the foremost nursing leaders for our Executive DNP students, creating the opportunity to learn directly from executives who have made significant contributions to the nursing profession and to healthcare delivery.”
The first cohort of seven DNP-prepared nurse executives will bring their expertise to the program through lectures, exclusive talks, and personalized mentoring for Executive DNP students. Their participation enhances the integration of theory and practice, aligning with Georgetown’s commitment to preparing nurse leaders for policy-making, system leadership, and healthcare innovation roles.
“The Nurse Executives in Residence will serve in a special faculty capacity, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Executive DNP program,” said Stephan Davis, DNP, MHSA, NEA-BC, CENP, FACHE, ANEF, FAAN, executive director of leadership, policy, and DNP education at the nursing school. “Along with our core DNP expert faculty, Nurse Executives in Residence will enhance Executive DNP education through the integration of theory and practice, preparing our graduates to contribute to the future of nursing leadership and healthcare transformation.”
